Question: I have seen a lot about detox diets as a weight loss approach. I’m looking to jumpstart a weight loss program for myself, so is this something I should seriously think about?
Lynn Answers: Unfortunately, there is not a quick and easy answer to the question. The answer, quite clearly, is “it depends.” Whether you in particular would profit from a detox diet in order to lose weight will depend on different important factors. To discover this I ask you 3 questions:
1. First, what percentage of your body fat is cellulite? If you answer 50% or more, then my answer to you is yes, a detox diet will be very good for you.
2. Here’s a question about your diet: do you generally eat these foods: dairy products, refined and heavily processed foods, fast food, convenience food, junk food, foods high in sugar or fat content or foods with artificial ingredients? If you say YES to any of these, you are well advised to start out your weight loss program with a detox diet.
3. Do you normally feel any symptoms of body toxicity, such as digestive troubles, halitosis, foul-smelling stools, irregularity, diarrhea, rashes or other skin problems, headaches, body pain, frequent fatigue , malaise or excessive premenstrual symptoms? If you answered yes to at least some or all of these, then, by all means, you would do well to do a detox diet.
You should be cognizant of the fact that detoxification is a wondrously useful health method when set about safely, but if done improperly, a detox diet can actually do more damage than good. Therefore, it’s consequential that you research this issue and choose a detox diet that is best for you and, most importantly, is safe and natural. Intense detox programs are to be avoided like the plague.
