The Art Deco style began appearing from 1925 through 1939 and was a mix of many modern trends of the day. It is a very lavish style that emphasized on energy and line. Country Design has divided into offshoots including French Country, Country Cottage, American Country, English Country and Sun Country. When most people refer to American Country it refers to American heritage with simple patterned fabrics, mix and match furniture, focusing on simple comfort and family often there is a lot of of faded red, white and blue. The 1980s took American country a bit more literally and focused on farm living so youll see cows, geese, pigs and other animals associated with a farm. The muted red, white and blue have morphed into country blue, rose, and a cream.
The Mediterranean style is very popular today it comes from countries above of the Mediterranean Sea like Spain, Greece and Italy. You may also hear this style referred to contemporary Spanish however they are the same style. The walls in this style are usually heavy with texture and a decorative finish is employed to emphsize the deep rich colors. Furniture is heavy and elaborate, and is often lower than usual. Sharp edges generally aren’t presentand everything is a bit rounded or bull-nosed. Frequently you’ll see mosaic tiles used and deep colors are often used, frequently colors from the earth are chosen but amplified in richness.

Is there a group of colors that appeal to you, do you prefer wood, plastic or metal furniture? Do you like fussy details and knickknacks or do you prefer less clutter?
